The Inspiration
Kind Of Blue is based on the concept of the smooth blues styles set by the Miles Davis album of the same name: original ideas and creativity by accomplished musicians. Miles redefined modern jazz and set a new standard for spontaneous improvisation within jazz and blues modal formats.
Like the 1959 session, Kind Of Blue went in to the studio the studio, got handed charts that were basically unseen or previously kept from view, and recorded the first take. The result was their debut full length CD "Blues....Kind Of!"
Kind Of Blue performs originals and jazz-blues standards by such artists as Miles, Wes, Trane, and Monk as well as some classic traditional blues and rock when requested: SRV, Hendrix, Clapton. Popular standards are improvised complementing the music and showcasing the musician's individual techniques.
